A great advocate for superfast broadband, Malcolm Harbour was keen to learn more about a new satellite broadband operation based in Herefordshire but now taking off across the country.
This new generation satellite technology delivers super-fast Internet access straight into homes and small business. It’s more than 150 times faster than dial-up, with a quality of service comparable to ADSL2.
Mr Harbour said: “I was delighted to meet Henry James, founder of Super-Fast Rural Broadband and to learn about his satellite broadband operation, an initiative to get broadband to the difficult to reach areas.
“I have been keen to encourage more take up of satellite offers and for them to be properly recognized in the UK broadband delivery plan.”
Mr James added: “Satellite broadband provides the ability for the 10 per cent of the rural population who won’t be able to access fibre optic-based broadband to get online in an affordable and reliable manner.
“It opens up opportunities for rural businesses and those working from home in remote parts of the country to access their emails and the internet in a dependable and consistent way and with an excellent quality of service.”
