Marcus is the Member of Parliament for Nuneaton and the surrounding villages of Ansley, New Arley, Old Arley, Hartshill and Furnace End.
He has lived in Nuneaton all his life. He grew up in Whitestone and went to both Whitestone and Chetwynd Schools before going on to St. Thomas More School and King Edwards VI College, all in Nuneaton. Marcus worked for a local firm of solicitors as a Conveyancing Manager for a number of years prior to his election to Parliament in May 2010.
Marcus is married to Suzanne and they have two young chidren, Oliver and Martha. He has a number of hobbies including football and has played for a number of local Sunday league teams in the Nuneaton and district league. He is also an avid but long suffering supporter of Coventry City and enjoys angling on the rare occasion when he has spare time.
Marcus' win in Nuneaton overturned a notional Labour majority of 3,850 and, as a result, he became the first Conservative MP for the town since 1992. Marcus said he was "delighted and extremely proud" after his victory which gave him a majority of 2,069.
